Daniel Huster, professor for Medical Biophysics at Leipzig University, is the new director of the Graduate Centre Life Sciences at the Research Academy Leipzig.

Prof. Dr. Daniel Huster, head of the Institute of Medical Physics and Biophysics, takes over the post from Prof. Dr. Annette Beck-Sickinger, who is now spokesperson of the Collaborative Research Centre 1423 "Structural dynamics of GPCR activation and signal transduction". After several research stays abroad, Prof. Huster has held the chair of Medical Biophysics at the University of Leipzig since 2008.

The Graduate Centre Life Sciences includes all of the structured doctoral programmes that pursue interdisciplinary research on the structure and behaviour of living organisms. These include research fields such as linguistics, neurosciences, and environmental and biodiversity research.

In his new position as director of the Graduate Centre Life Sciences, Prof. Huster is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Research Academy Leipzig. This board supports the management with regard to quality assurance and management, the distribution of resources among the Graduate Centres as well as the conception and integration of doctoral programs.
